The WumpThe Wump

"Timothy B. Quibble's grandpa has a saying: The best way to deal with bullies is to wump 'em. But Timothy wouldn't hurt a fly-- and not just because he genuinely loves bugs. So even though he's facing bullies at school, on the bus, and at home (even the family dog doesn't like him), Timothy just keeps his head down. But his shadow has other ideas. Timothy's shadow suddenly starts moving on its own, growing and feeding on Timothy's darkest thoughts and manifesting into a shadowy creature known as the Wump. Facing bullies both at home and at school, Timothy cocoons himself in the monster's shadows and loves the newfound confidence the Wump gives him so he can finally stand up for himself. Then he and the Wump becomes consumed by a desire for revenge. But how much of himself can Timothy give up before he is completely transformed? This creepy, deliciously dark supernatural middle-grade coming-of-age story is a poignant reflection of the darkness--and light--inside of all of us. It features two-color illustrations throughout.
