Martin Scorsese scores easy in this masterful masterpiece!... Just off the top of my head, this is probably thee best film of 1976, a very strong year for cinema (sorry Clint, 'Outlaw Josey Wales')... Robert De Niro shines as the…

Last year, I read that (No spoiler) Scorcese explained the end. Leaves a bad aftertaste. But a classic. The date. What a choice of theater. Who else could pull that off?

🚕 If you think the purpose of movies is to bring about the Moral Uplift of the audience, and to have a likable hero to set a good example, then you probably won't like this one. - The Observer is amused to read the commenter who calls…

A taxi driver's undeveloped rescuer personality portrayed by young Robert DeNiro wherein he possibly couldn't identify what he was feeling much less vocalize it. Was he like this before he went to war? Violence was boiling just under the…

I checked this out to see an early film with Harvey Keitel, and much to my surprise it was a DiNiro lead. When I seen the ending I wasn't surprised it was a Scorsese film. Jodie Foster was just a kid. Did not watch 2nd disc.

One of Martin Scorsese's earlier movies. This movie follows the life of a Vietnam veteran turned taxi driver as he copes with his anger, hatred and loneliness in 70s New York. The plot is relatively heavy, even for a Scorsese movie,…

Always feel that Martin S.' work are over rated. Finally made up my mind to watch this acclaimed film hoping to prove that I had been wrong. Well, I was right all along. The descriptions in the Taxi drivers stories in the 2nd disc are more…

I don't get it. I really-really don't. (And, I guess I never will) Why does this dreary, dead-end movie from the dreary, dead-end 1970's seem to rate so high with so many people? I can't, for the life of me, see how these people would…

Martin Scorsese's unflinching plunge into the darkest recesses of the human soul feels painfully relevant.

Directed by Martin Scorsese in 1976, this American neo-noir psychological thriller delves into the mental images surrounding Travis Bickle, a 26-year-old honorably discharged, lonely and depressed U.S. Marine living in isolation in New…

A great movie with a fantastic performance by Robert De Niro- one of the best American films of the 20th Century. This film will be jarring to those raised on superhero pap and other mindless movies currently in vogue. It's funny how…

To people who've never seen this movie, but are curious about the controversy: 1. It is not a happily-ever-after story. 2. You won't laugh a lot. You won't likely get excited, either. No pulse-pounding suspense. 3. It is difficult to…

Awesome movie. A bit disturbing, but worth watching. The movie made me think deeply about the forces of good versus evil. Do two wrongs make a right? Or, does the end justify the means?

the great Bernard Herrmann is oppressive on this film. the music is so strong it calls attention to itself. how Jodie foster could have allowed herself to be so objectified(considering what she has since come to represent), is a mystery…

A very interesting peek behind the curtain of what it looks like to be alone in society. Travis Bickle was as dirty as the people he looked down on, and couldn't get a grip on his life, one minute a monster, the next a hero. A real slow…

The blend of Schrader's script, Scorsese's direction and De Niro's performance is both riveting and unnerving. A film that will stay with you forever.

An absolute classic- the movie captures the post Vietnam malaise of American society in a perfect slice of nightmarish alienation and horror. Winner of the Palme D'Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. A must see for intelligent and acute…

Maybe I'm missing something, but to me it was just another movie. I really love the way some people say that if you don't get it it's because you're not intelligent. Such snobbery.

Just like other such super-popular movies as Blade Runner and Star Wars, Taxi Driver is clearly yet another one of those mystifying movies that one, apparently, isn't allowed to dislike (and, especially, not allowed to publicly voice a…

This is absolutely the Emperor's New Clothes of movies. If you don't like it, it's because you aren't smart enough, of hip enough, or whatever. Well, I thought it was lousy when I saw it in the '70s, and it hasn't improved with age. …
