I thought that Disney’s Ponyo was a very interesting story! It is very unique from the typical Disney films, but had a really engaging story line that captured my interest from the start! I loved all of the characters, and thought that they added a lot of cuteness and fun to the film! I think that audiences will really appreciate the creativity and imagination that is present throughout this movie, and really makes this film stand out from others of Disney! The animation style was very unique, which added more intrigue to the film. It is a very memorable movie, and has a great adventure, which is why I would absolutely recommend this film to other viewers! 4/5 -@PenelopeScriptor of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Ponyo on the Cliff is a 2008 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, animated by Studio Ghibli. The film tells the story of Ponyo, a goldfish who escapes from the ocean and is rescued by a five-year-old human boy, Sōsuke after she is washed ashore while trapped in a glass jar. I enjoyed this movie because it has a lot of magic, more uncertainty, less predictability, and it’s easier to fall under the spell of the story. I would recommend this fairy tale to all ages. It was stunning to watch and this is no exception. It reminded me of any of the Harry Potter movies. Rating: 5/5 @PrettyKitty of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Ponyo is about a goldfish exploring the land above the sea. There she befriends a little boy named Sousuke and they start to develop a friendship. With this friendship Ponyo slowly starts becoming human and continues the adventure on land. I think that this is a great movie for people of all ages. I can see that this film could be more catered to kids but it can be enjoyed at every age. The animation in this film is very cute and easy on the eyes. All the characters are lovable as well as the character designs. Although they are simple it is what makes each individual unique. I would definitely recommend watching this movie! 5/5 @minimonie of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board The Movie “Ponyo” is absolutely the worst anime movie ever.“Ponyo” is an extremely rushed and is very difficult to understand movie. The movie also includes some fantasy such as mermaids and weird ocean creators, but these fantasy characters do not fit in well with the other characters in this movie. In fact, I believe that the fantasy characters actually ruin the whole movie. The plot of this movie is extremely confusing and horrible with a young boy finding an abnormal fish in the ocean and capturing it. The fish then wants to be human and becomes powerful just like her mother and tries to transform into a human. During the middle of the movie, it introduces random characters which makes it even more difficult and confusing to understand. The events that are displayed in the movie were very short and were irrelevant to the actual plot. The movie “Ponyo” does not really express any emotion or mood besides confusion. I believe this movie is for all ages. Overall this movie was a disgrace to all anime or anime movie lovers. Rating 2.5/5 @Chichiro of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
