This is more funny than scary, though the “horror” aspects (and social commentary) are all there. The “scares” are mostly jump-scares, then you laugh (maybe a little nervously); the special feature interviews highlight the similarity between “getting a laugh” and “getting a scare” in movie – both are about perfect timing. The true “horror” is in the concept: re-enslavement of Black people by high-tech and brainwashing. Disguised as a horror movie, this film is really a look at attitudes about racism and stereotypes, and is likely to start some serious discussions.
