Summary

Ronnie, a recent high school graduate and rebel is forced to spend the summer with her Dad at a small beach town in Carolina instead of in her hometown in New York. She hates her dad for leaving the family and didn't have any contact with him for 3 years. She starts out rough, getting into the wrong crowd because of her rebellious nature. Then she gets framed for stealing when she is already on probation for shoplifting back in New York. However deep down inside she is a good girl, she gets to know a guy named Will and they fall in love. They realize it will be hard when he goes off to Vanderbilt for college and she goes back to New York. A few days before they separate, Ronnie finds out her dad has terminal cancer and will die soon. She stays in Carolina with her Dad for his last days. She quit piano because she was angry with her dad but the Summer changed her and their relationship. Her dad had been working on a song and Ronnie ends up finishing it and playing it for him in the last 2 weeks of his life. She ends up auditioning for Julliard and makes it as a student there. Will ends up transferring to Columbia.
