Although I missed the storyline of Jacob's grandfather that sold my on the first book, this sequel was never-the-less compelling and thrilling. Although there were more dull scenes than the previous novel, the moments when I felt it was dragging were the moments directly preceding the most exciting twists. Mrs. Peregrine's wards are even more dynamic when left to their own devices, and the reader is introduced to a variety of surprising new characters. Overall, a fascinating expansion of the world of the Peculiar, once again enhanced by Riggs' charming inclusion of fascinating photographs.
