Characters: 7/10 Plot: 8/10 Writing: 8/10 I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was a nice change of pace to have a female YA protagonist that was not insecure/brooding/snarky/stereotypical. In fact, she was very likeable without being someone I’d normally like; I could relate to her desire to overachieve and perfectionism and propriety and her dislike of swearing (points for this), but she was also the preppy cheerleader type that I normally dislike. Great balance of the unexpected. David was also very likeable; kinda sassy, with the cute sweetness. The secondary characters were meh, though; Bee and Ryan in particular were both nondescript. I liked the plot a lot; it definitely had a Buffy feel to it. Loved the twists at the end, and I'd love to read the sequel.
