The murder mystery as morality play. A simple pleasure cruise down the Nile is tainted by deception, jealousy, revenge, thwarted ambition, kleptomania and alcoholism. No one (almost) is quite what he or she seems, but everyone gets what they deserve, thanks to the brilliance and earnest humanity of Hercule Poirot.
