God Is Not Great

How Religion Poisons Everything

This is not Hitchens' best book, but it is a highly readable book. And it is, judging from the hysteria it provoked, a highly needed book. That Hitchens' is not wrong in his points is very much the point. The author has only to enumerate the track records of the religions of the world all in one place and the religious people of the world rise up in anger- as though the greatest sin was to talk about what they actually did (not what they preached) all together so that the real world house of their otherworldly religion can be judged like other institutions of man. Blasphemy, and much needed blasphemy. Every angry screaming, scripture laden, review on this page is proof of the necessity of this book.
