The back cover might lead you think this will be the story of displaced heir trying to win back his kingdom, but the real heart of it is the young king-in-hiding's near-immortal and many-generations-removed's relatives. The crook-shouldered, dry-alcoholic Morlock is the real hero. It contains adventure, political intrigue, and horror in equal measure. Blood of Ambrose is the start of a series of standalone books about Morlock, each of which is quite unique and distinctive. Enge writes great and very literary fantasy!

The most exciting part of this book is taking it back to the library!
