When the Silver Surfer arrives on Earth, army General Hager demands that Reed Richards create a sensor to track him and find out what he's doing on Earth. The only problem is that Richards is helping Sue Storm plan their rescheduled wedding. Ben Grimm is heating up his relationship with Alicia and Johnny Storm is trying to get sponsorships and girls. Returning is Victor Von Doom, who gladly offers to assist the military in figuring out what the Silver Surfer is all about.

The movie takes place after The Fantastic Four defeat Von Doom. All is well as the four heroes are enjoying life, until trouble arrives on Earth. In Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, a mysterious character known as the Silver Surfer appears, and is not a friend to the Fantastic Four. As the Fantastic Four pit themselves against the Silver Surfer, they must also fight against Galactus who is intending to destroy Earth. The movie did a great job on the Silver Surfer, who looked amazing. His presence felt otherworldly and he looked like a powerful metal block of some kind.

This film was visually good. According to the commentary, Laurence Fishburne wanted to be the voice of Galactus. Well, that didn't work out but I don't think his voice was right for SS either. The actor who played Doom had the wrong kind of voice, too. no DOOM there. The girl who played Alicia was a bit irritating, face-acting all the time. Not CUTE like Alicia was. Then the editing. It seemed in their few exchanges that Sue and Johnny Storm were about to start french kissing, they didn't seem brother and sistery at all. Too many close-ups of Jessica looking pained. The guy who played the general played him very seriously and it was nice to see him get permanently zapped by Doom. Good riddance. Ben Grimm wasn't funny enough. No mention of Yancy Street or his Aunt Petunia, no "clobberin' time", no "ever-lovin',blue-eyed Thing", no nothing. When you have dialogue like that, shouldn't you USE it? The movie wasn't bad but Aunt Petunia is turning over in her grave. Kind of a crappy ending, too.

This movie was pretty cool. I liked the way the "Silver Surfer" looked, even though i was disapointed that they did not show the mighty "Galactus". However, the visual and sound effects were good. There are a few good scenes for both sound and visuals. I would have to say that one of my favorite scenes for visuals is when The Human Torch is chasing Silver Surfer. I also enjoyed the sounds of Galactus arriving with his planet destroying machine. I give this movie 4 stars. For visuals, audio, action, the silver surfer, and a decent story. A Gyro with plenty of white sauce and ginger ale.

Not the best sequel, but still a great comic book superhero movie. Good acting, and a fun script. I would recommend this to any fan of the superhero genre.
