My 2.5-year old grandson asked me to read the book at least four times, and ultimately made his first attempt to read himself. We had a neighbor in New York with eleven cats ~ and a husband who hated each one. A messy divorce ensued. That tragedy might better engage the critics of this charming simple book.

This is a great series for kids who are just beginning to be readers. These books are meant to read together with your child, have varying levels of difficulty, and present both fiction and non-fiction titles.
