Paul Revere and the Raiders were a Northwest Band that made it big. In fact, during the late 1960's they had one hit single after another. Such songs as "Hungry", "Kicks" "Steppin Out" and of course the big one "Louie, Louie". Now a lot of groups did that last song, but none did it better than Paul Revere and the Raiders. Their lead singer Mark Lindsay left the group after their first few records. Frankly, without him they had lost a very valuable voice in the group. Paul Revere and the Raiders continue to play up to the present day. The last time I saw them they had the son of Bill Medley singing the lead vocals. The show was still good, but it will always be lacking that great voice of Mark Lindsay. He has gone on to be among other things the leader of his own band and a Portland DJ for a short time. Listen to "Kicks" 1963 to 1971. for classic rock of the 1960's.
P.S. Paul Revere Dick passed away October 4,2014. I had loved this band since I first heard them in high school. They were a big sensation even on such TV shows as "Where the Action Is!". Their live shows were full of energy with their costumes and dance routines. The center of the show though was Paul Revere. He introduced the band members and the songs. Over the years he had many lead singers, but the original Mark Lindsay was never really replaceable. That didn't stop Paul Revere he kept the band out playing right up to a few months ago. I am sad at his passing. Thanks for all the great music and you can be assured many more generations will become Paul Revere and the Raiders fans. Your music is timeless!!
