This is a 2005 docu-drama originally aired on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) as a segment of the television program "Nova."
The film dramatizes how an obscure youung patent clerk, Albert Einstein, came up with his shattering idea---E = mcxc.
It is a gripping, fascianting and eye-opening series of reenactments of Einstein and those pioneers.

I was very curious as to the previous comment re: all the genii were men, the film is PC et al. Was it misogyny or insight? Conclusion: It is revisionist, and welcome revisionism. All revisions in this film are edited and footnoted by corroborated publications and dates that we can fact check. Any disregard to the knowledge of women as mentors and genius; therefore is simply old boy misogyny. yup.

Wow, what a great film! Demystifies and simplifies some great scientific discoveries to help explain how Einstein ultimately arrived at e=mc2. I'm not terribly scientifically inclined but I was able to follow this and understand it. Fascinating and extremely well acted. And who knew so many women were such highly regarded scientists, even in the 1700s and 1800s?! Their contributions helped to make Einstein's "big idea" possible. Well worth watching - highly recommend.

An absolutely amazing production! It does not focus just on Einstein's breakthroughs in science and mathematics, but of the many other scientific achievements made before him, which made his "big ideas" possible. It also gives a good description of Einstein's childhood and adult years. But what really made this production stand out to me was the acting - it was simply amazing! I really recommend this production to anyone interested!
