Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

I Julian of Macedonia was cursed by his half brother into a book. A woman does the spell and for 30 days, he is hers to command. Blessed with good looks, and a great mind he has endured this condition for centuries. A very straight laced sex therapist gets the book from a friend and yes it worked. She doesn't quite know how to handle the situation and wants to help Julian. She treats him like a person, not a slave and the attraction and love grow between them. Enter his cousin. Eros who tries to help and let's them know there is a way to free Julian but is dangerous and complicated. No more spoilers but I can tell you this is a great start to a series. If you are looking for a new author who makes you hold your breath at times, Great read with surprises popping up here and there. We get to meet a few of the people who will make appearances through out the Dark Hunter series including Kyrian of Thrace who is his best friend and finds his love interests in Book 2 (officially book 1) "Night Pleasures".

Prequel to the Dark hunter novels about Julian and Grace. I read this after reading book 22 as a way of completing the series, but it definitely was not the best of books. If I read it first, I would have missed out on all the other books because I would have stopped here. The book wasn't even exciting - rather blah!

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's books. This doesn't really fit the rest of the dark hunter series but it's still great.

I find it hard to believe someone who is a sex therapist would use the word rump when talking to an incarnation of a Greek God. Every time I tried to read after that sentence all I kept seeing was rump.

Julian of Macedon is a ancient Spartan who is trapped in an ancient scroll. He waits to be summoned by women to serve them sexually for one month. This time he is summoned by Grace Alexander, a sex therapist who wants to help him break the curse.

This is your typical romance novel with the heroine who was hurt in love and is unable to trust men, while we have a hero who has never been loved but finds his soulmate with our heroine. They both reach out to each other, the heroine finding a man who can finally show her that she is beautiful, and the hero finds a woman who will love the inner him, rather than the beautiful outer shell. All while having tension filled almost sex.

Kenyon's writing is what elevates this above the typical romance novel, but if you have any critical thinking, you can recognize the tropes as they appear.

Poorly written. I hope her writing gets better.

Julian ....
Julian was born the son of a legendary Spartan commander. Reared in the manner of his Spartan brethren, he knew no love of any kind. His childhood was harsh and unforgiving. As a man, he fought his way to the top and became the most feared Macedonian general of his time. He was the commander who trained Kyrian of Thrace and once Kyrian attained his own command status, the two of them cut a trail of slaughter through the Mediterranean and nearly brought Rome to her knees.
Unfortunately, an act of brutal betrayal brought Julian into direct conflict with the Greek gods and caused him to be cursed into a scroll that was later bound into a book. For the rest of eternity, he is a Sex Slave whose only goal is to satisfy his summoner for the course of a month.
By the way, he's very good at what he does...

Grace ....
A sex therapist by trade, Grace is through with men. She's decided to remain blissfully alone until the night her outrageous best friend gives her the most unorthodox present imaginable: A Greek sex slave.
