A convicted murderer escapes from a maximum security prison--to go after the wife who put him behind bars. A maniac who kills for sport hides in the shadows, even as a boy confesses to his horrific crimes. A predator torments his victims with unspeakably intimate acts of violence. A butcher leaves two bodies each time he strikes, with the first containing clues that lead to the second. A madman pursues money, power, and celebrity by adopting the alias of a notorious killer. A sadist hunts the streets for vulnerable girls--and makes their nightmares come alive. These are just a few of the souls that haunt Lisa Gardner's riveting series. But all these criminals have one thing in common: They are no match for Pierce Quincy.

When Tess married Jim Beckett, she thought he was her night in shining armor, but little did she know what she was getting herself into. Jim turned out to be a serial killer. Tess finally figured it out and turned in him. He escaped from jail and swore he would kill her. She decided to go to J. T. Dillon, an ex marine and have him train her to fight back. It is a game of cat and mouse and J. T. swears he will keep her safe. This is a book that I could not put down.

Story about about a women who is tormented by her serial killer husband. She goes to an ex-marine (mercenary), for help in training; including combat, shooting etc. to help defend herself an her daughter.
Straight-forward action sequences. The book dwells on the emotional scars of the characters too much. Not one I would recommend.

Sick but suspenseful.
