Add a CommentA child is writing to aliens who might visit the Earth to let them know what to expect when they arrive. Highlights include the multitude of different families, careers, transportation, animals, schools, geography, disabilities, ages and more that can be found here. The message that we share a common humanity is beautifully relayed as the child says, “Sometimes we hurt each other, but it is better when we help each other”. And while some might think it a bit saccharine, I think it works. One reviewer called Blackall’s artwork “dazzling” and I agree. It’s the type of book that will reveal something new each time you read it.
A timely, beautiful story that will have every reader feeling how much we Earth-dwellers have in common with each other.
How would you describe our planet to a visiting alien-from-outer-space? What might he see when he visits? What kinds of living things will he find? What are people like? How do they behave? And most of all...where can he stay when he comes?
This book explains to a would be alien what to expect during a visit to earth. In a time of much loneliness and division, it gives a lovely message of all the things we humans have in common with each other -- we get hungry, we get cold, we are busy, we keep learning, etc. The illustrations really stood out for me. They are whimsical, intriguing, and captivating. The page with the birds has left a lasting impression on me.
