The characters from the three previous books return for an epic journey that determines the fate of Dalemark. There's adventure and time travel and the mythology spun from the previous books fall into place neatly. Even better, the characters from "Drowned Ammet" (the weakest of the 3 books) are much improved.

Cennoreth clicked her tongue and shook her head as she stroked the cloth, again like Mum. A comb fell out of her hair, and she rammed it back impatiently. That was even more like Mum. "This is a pretty snarl!" she said.
