Story a fresh take on several tropes from mercenaries, intelligence organization, cloning, identity theft, illegal brain transfer rejuvenation, stranger in a strange land, leadership succession & "what central government" in capitalist gone amok planet.
Complicated, but very engaging.

Bujold can take a handful of sci fi cliches (clones, space pirates) and turn it into an exciting, dramatic story that also has important things to say on finding oneself and the importance of family.
