ONCE UPON A TIME, IN THE HAUNTED CITY OF DERRY, FOUR BOYS STOOD TOGETHER AND DID A BRAVE THING. IT WAS SOMETHING THAT CHANGED THEM IN WAYS THEY COULD NEVER BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND. Twenty-five years after saving a Down's-syndrome kid from bullies, Beav, Henry, Pete, and Jonesy -- now men with separate lives and separate problems -- reunite in the woods of Maine for their annual hunting trip. But when a stranger stumbles into their camp, disoriented and mumbling something about lights in the sky, chaos erupts. Soon, the four friends are plunged into a horrifying struggle with a creature from another world where their only chance of survival is locked in their shared past -- and in the Dreamcatcher.

I love Stephen King Novels, but it is true that he is definately "long winded". He proves this to a 'T' in Dream Catcher. The story is great in the typical Stephen King style, but unfortunately it seems to draaaaag onnnn aaaannnd onnnnn.
At this moment I am just over half way through and I am here to renew because I intend to finish what is really a great story.
It is the story of a UFO crash without dwelling too much on UFO's, but on the lives of 4 life long friends who have been affected by the occurance while on a hunting trip together in Northern Maine.

Some of my recommendations are:
Pet Semitary
The Cell
The Dark Towere - Series 1 through 7 + (long but worth the read)
The Shining
Doctor Sleep (best if you are familiar with The Shining)

Feb 2018......another book from on the shelves in my basement, (an old library discard).......This was a big one, (my children will be glad that they don't have to haul this one away when I croak!) but was an enjoyable read. A good one for a long snowy month!

To say that this one could have been a whole lot better would truly be an understatement. When is Stephen King going to finally retire?

I'm a huge fan of Mr. King's work, and although not in his usual style, a difficult book to put down!

I felt like the pacing was off, and certain plot lines weren't as interesting as the others. I wish he had spent a little more time letting the reader get to know the characters so we cared more.

I'm a fan of Stephen King, so I found this to be pretty good. Long, as usual. At times, the plot sort of stagnated; I was much more interested in what was happening to the 5 friends (Beav, Henry, Pete, Jonesy and Duddits) than what was going on with the wacko military commander and his efforts to contain the alien problem. I wish some of the back story would have been better clarified, and I wish we could have gotten to know the 5 characters a bit better.

Not really one of my favorite books but it was alright to get through.
