The latest installment in the witty and fun Lady Sherlock series has sleuth Charlotte Holmes on the hunt for a killer when her best friend, Lord Ingram, is accused of his wife's murder. The brilliant and fully realized characters, who all have their own schemes and secrets that will need to be unraveled, make this gender-bending Sherlock Holmes tale a delightful read.

I love this series an absurd amount, which never ceases to be mildly surprising to me, since I'm not a hug Holmes enthusiast, and I've also grown weary of Sherlock retellings. However, I think that Sherry Thomas' decision to cast Holmes as a woman in this reimagining was absolutely brilliant -- it's so much fun to read the character of the quirky, eccentric genius cast as a woman rather than as a man for once. Every book in this series has had a very sharp, smart mystery at its heart, but none more so than this one -- this also marks the first time that Holmes knows a lot -- a LOT -- more than the reader, though I don't want to spoil anything by saying more than that. Suffice it to say these books are auto-reads for me, and I will spend all year impatiently waiting for the fall and the next installment.

Another good book in the Lady Sherlock series. I love Charlotte "Sherlock" Holmes. She is someone who knows who she is and isn't willing to compromise. She loves her desserts and she keeps track of when she has had too much by how many chins she has. This time there is a great mystery of how and why someone has been murdered and who did it. There are so many twists and turns you really need to pay attention. I really enjoy this series and watch for each book to become available. It's always nice to have strong women as the protagonist especially when it's not appropriate for men to dine with women in public.

What if Sherlock Holmes were a woman? This complex story, the third in the series, kept me reading late more than one night! The author's inclusion of the constrictions on women of that time period highlighted how much they had to endure.
