Add a CommentThe best canning book in my opinion. Are you freaked out by the amount of sugar in traditional canning recipes? Do you want to use honey, stevia, or another alternative sweetener? This is the book for you. I also love the detailed instructions on how to successfully use Pomona's Universal Pectin.
This book is definitely a great canning recipe book. I loved it!
I ended up buying the book. Great recipes including home made apple pectin and tomato juice from your leftovers from canning tomatoes. Good recipes not found elsewhere too.
After looking at how much sugar is contained in the recipes in the classic Ball canning book, I freaked out. This is a terrific alternative reference. It features great low-sugar, no pectin (or sometimes a little Pomona Pectin) recipes. I made a batch of strawberry rhubarb jam and another of strawberry and then knew I needed to buy the book.
I love this book. I've made several recipes from different "seasons" all were great. I ended up buying it and use it often.
Really great recipes. I'm looking forward to trying them out this summer. I think I'll need to buy this book!
