Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She's skipped multiple grades and doesn't really connect with the older kids at school, but she's not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie's a telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret--at least, that's what she thinks. But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she's not alone. He's a telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn't. Fitz opens Sophie's eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

First off...

I LOVE KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES!!!!! AND ALL YOU HATERS SHOULD PAUSE AND REALIZE EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!! But to all men his own way... but please, I shouldn't see any hate comments three books later from the same people--just stop reading and stop complaining Pleeeaaasseee.

Second off...

I want to THANK my P.E best friend for introducing me into this AWESOME series! Sure, I sometimes tricked him into giving me spoilers and regretting it right after, but he always found a way to cover it up! Thank you, my good blue-eyed Elf buddy!

And finally, I love Keefe. That is all.

Peace out.

Wow—such a good series! I’ve read it so many times I’ve lost count! I’ve recommended this to so many people and now I’m recommending it to you. If you like crazy books (especially ones where the main character actually has a chance against the antagonist...sometimes), you should try KOTLC! I’ve made great friends just because of this series, and apart from how much Shannon Messenger tortures us (with the wait for the next book to come out AND with some of the things she does to her characters) all of it is SO GOOD. 100/100! Just make sure, if you’re new to this series, that you’re ready to wait a full year for the next book to be released! :)

Keeper of the Lost Cities, by Shannon Messenger, is a novel filled with excitement and adventure. The plot follows Sophie Foster, a twelve year old girl with a special ability: reading minds. Sophie’s life changes one day when she meets Fitz, a mysterious boy who tells her that there is somewhere she belongs, with other people like her. Sophie is forced to leave her family and start a new life where she learns to control her abilities. Sophie faces many difficulties along the way, finds out the secrets about her past, and the truth behind her very own existence. This novel is the perfect combination of fantasy, adventure, humor, and mystery, and I would definitely recommend it.

Shannon Messenger’s enthralling book, Keeper of the Lost Cities, follows the adventures of our very own Sophie through her journey of discovering her identity in this new world. She starts off as an ordinary human living with her parents and sister, except she has one thing special about her. She can read other people’s minds! One day, a random boy finds her and takes her to this whole new world of… elves! Apparently, she turns out to be an elf, but she turns out to be more special than just that. She meets new friends in her journey, attends the school Foxfire, and learns about this ever growing but scary world of elves and other “mythical creatures.” She faces difficulties, searches to figure out her identity, and faces criminals just waiting to destroy her. Read more of this exciting adventure of Sophie in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. It is a book you will not regret reading, and I recommend this book for tweens who love adventurous and mythical stories.

12-year-old Sophie Foster learns from 13-year-old Fitz that she's not human, she's an elf, and moreover, an elf designed by the Black Swan to be...well, amazing?

She's got all kinds of "abilities" that most of her peers can only dream of, and maybe that explains why she's always felt like the odd person -- um, elf -- out. She gives up her human family and struggles with her adoptive elf ones, who aren't sure they're ready for the litany of disastrous, possibly fatal, escapades she has.

The worst of which is being kidnapped, not by her creators, the Black Swan, but by a shadowy other group, that's using portals in the human world (the "Lost" cities) to keep one step ahead of the elven authorities. Will she and her best friend, Dex, make it out alive?

Awesome book!! Read it like 5 times. It has a lot of action and some comedy. Also it has near death moments which in my opinion makes a book great. The main character Sophie is AWSOME.A drawback on the romance but great anyways.

I already read the first book, but when this came out I had to reread it bc, like DUH, ya can't get a Keeper of the Lost Cities book and NOT read it (even if you already read it once😄😉😂) Also, the illustrations were so fun!

I feel bad 'bout admitting the truth; this was a great book. I feel bad only 'cause... it might have beat Harry Potter-- honest! The first two hundred pages were good-- but not great. Then I got to the end. The book just sparked a rainbow-- my mind was just like,
"Are you ready? This is your new favorite series. The first book of Keeper of Lost Cities was better than the first Harry Potter book." After I finshed Harry Potter, I thought nothing could beat the series. But I was wrong. This taught me how to write better. I'm now a Keeper of Lost Cities fan... now I need the 2nd book!
This made me realize; there are a lot of good series in the world. You can't say there are none... you just have to find the good books! Honestly... I DON'T LIE, read this now.

This book is amazing! (The whole series is actually) I would definitely recommend this book to readers who are looking for adventure, romance, and nail-biting cliffhangers that make you want to throw the book across the room!

Fitz stopped in front of a bedroom fit for a princess – huge, canopied bed, crystal chandeliers, and glass walls overlooking the lake. “this is you. If you need anything, my room’s just down the hall.”
Her heart did that weird fluttery thing when their eyes met, and she had to look away to speak clearly. “thanks for your help today. I don’t think I coud’ve gotten through all this without you.”
He cleared his throat. “I don’t deserve your thanks,”
“Why?”
He kicked the ground, “Because – I knew what was going to happen and I didn’t tell you when I ae you come with me. I never realized it woud be hard for you to move here – not until I found you there on the floor. I feel like I ruined your life.”
“Fitz.” She paused to find the right way to explain the crazy emotions spinning through her. “Today was hard. But you were right about what you said yesterday. This is where I belong.”

Sexual Content: There is some crushes and kissing through out the series.

Other: 1. This book cannot be put down until you have finished it. 2. there is a little bit of violence in the series, so I would not recommend this to younger children 3. There is a little crushing and feelings and stuff, so if you are uncomfortable reading this kind of stuff, I suggest you don't start this series.
