When Kurt Austin is injured attempting to rescue the passengers and crew from a sinking yacht, he wakes with fragmented and conflicted memories. Did he see an old friend and her children drown, or was the yacht abandoned when he came aboard? For reasons he cannot explain, Kurt doesn't trust either version of his recollection. Determined to know the truth, he begins to search for answers, and soon finds himself descending into a shadowy world of state-sponsored cybercrime, and uncovering a pattern of vanishing scientists, suspicious accidents, and a web of human trafficking. With the help of Joe Zavala, he takes on the sinister organization at the heart of this web, facing off with them in locations ranging from Monaco to North Korea to the rugged coasts of Madagascar. But where he will ultimately end up, even he could not begin to guess.

As one can expect from Clive Custler novels, Ghost ships is a thrilling adventure with curious twists. The start of the novel begins a century earlier than the main story, even the first chapter happens thirty or so years before the plot of the book begins to expand. Clive and Graham Brown incorporate the various snippets into the story beautifully. While admittedly, there were some parts of the plot that were easy to predict while other parts seem downright ridiculous to assume that it could possibly happen, it was still a good show. Ghost Ship is an ideal novel if you want a thrilling adventure with the expected outcome that the good guys win in the end.
Listening to the audiobook of the story, Scott Brink does an excellent job narrating the tale of Austin Kurt in Ghost Ships. It was clear to understand dialogue between individuals and the smoothness of his voice showcased the calmness on how the situation was handled by the various narrators. It was a good book to listen to everything considered. While the plot was painfully simple at times, it still provided lasting entertainment.
