Add a CommentAn enjoyable easy read. It provided the heroic protagonist I wanted and had a sweet love story. I'm growing to love all the Bridgerton's as I continue through the series.
a great book, I will give it a good 8/10 it made me laugh it made me cry. Its a great mix of emotions the writer did a good job making my memory play this book like a film.
Definitely this is much better book that the first of the Bridgerton series, with quite good, much more believable plot. Kate and Anthony's story is really captivating, not a page turner, but still enjoyable. However, Julia Quinn fails to develop the secondary character of Edwina, the younger and apparently prettier sister. Somehow it is hard to believe, that this girl will not respond in any way, shape or form to Lord Bridgerton's attention and courting. According to the Author, beside his reputation, Anthony has money, connections, power, intelligence and he is devastatingly handsome... And the object of his primarily attention is barely 17 years old...It simply doesn't add up as the Viscount is way too dashing...For this reason only, the rate falls at 3.0 out of 5 stars...
#2 -- after The Duke and I
With the upcoming Netflix adaptation of the Bridgertons series, I've been working through the series. This installment was pure frothy fun.
Simply yummy.
Much, much better than the first book in this series. While the writing was good in the first book, the author took a detour that frustrated me to no end. Quinn managed to steer clear of controversial content in book two and it improved the storytelling immensely. Anthony was an annoying secondary character in book one and although my opinion of him improved, I might have liked him even more if I hadn't found it hard to overlook his silliness from the first one. I did enjoy Kate and her family. In fact, the family dynamics in the story created some of the most entertaining and poignant moments. All in all, not the best HR compared to the caliber of historicals that I've read most recently, but still enjoyable.
Julia Quinn writes the best witty banter. I love how she creates chemistry between her characters.
I love Julia Quinn's combination humor that makes me laugh out loud and romance that makes me smile.
