Add a CommentThis is a quick read of a story of how young people (with some help from their elders and ancestors) make "a way out of no way." Author Tim Tingle has managed to accomplish the difficult task of telling a compelling story in which kids are kids and a community finds creative ways to survive while at the same time honoring the bleak history of what has happened to Native Americans (in this case the Choctaws). In addition to being a good read in general, this book could be a good choice for reluctant readers as well as young people who have suffered trauma.
