In a gripping, heart-wrenching true story that shocked the nation. May 5, 1993. West Memphis, Arkansas. Three young boys playing in the nearby woods never come home for dinner. In the rush to find and convict the killers, police focus on a trio of teenagers suspected of devil worship. It is only when an investigator reveals that the evidence doesn't all add up, that the community is forced to face the reality that the true killer might still be out there.

This movie is extremely disturbing! Just thinking about the fact, that there are people out there, that murder children out of some form of a cult. Three children's lives were taken from their families, and the REAL truth, is never investigated. Instead, the officials, assure the community, that three teens that are not favoured in there town, committed these hideous crimes. It also saddens me, to know that there are corrupt officials, that would do anything, to frame children of any crime.

This movie shows, that the public are not always aware of the truth, yet only aware of what they are told!

I don’t think I would want to be allegedly guilty in Arkansas. The judges seem to get their education from a Quik Trip. “Comes across as a cinematic, dramatized Cliff Notes edition of a story that’s been told too often.” Lots of major points to emphasize and major characters to keep track of. Sometimes it feels disjointed and scattered. The story has been told again and again. Let’s have a film about successful people that made it against all odds.

A well-done movie based on the true story! It is gripping and a good study of the characters in it! Wonderful acting! I highly recommend it!

Story of a triple murder in the early 1990s which examines multiple threads and multiple points of view of murders which are still unsolved. The investigation, prosecution, trial, and sentencing were flagrantly careless and botched from the beginning. It is still uncertain who committed the murders. Excellent cast, director, script. No gruesome scenes.

This is another take on the Memphis Three event two decades ago. As a dramatized version it is not as gripping, and truthful, compared to the documentary versions. I also think Egoyan has lost some of his directing touch.

The film, a fictional account of the West Memphis 3, got slammed by a lot of critics because this film didn’t add any new information that was already presented in several documentaries over the years. Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon did a very good job in their roles as two of the protagonists of the railroading of the West Memphis 3. In drama, as opposed to documentaries, the director gets to propose emotional discussions between various characters and in this I believe director Atom Egoyan and his actors did a very fine job. By the way, this is film’s story is one more example of how corrupt police fabricate and obfuscate to convict (and nearly execute) innocent Americans.

Ron: That's right, Magggie. When I see something like this happen, when I see a town lose three of its children, and they sacrifice three more for revenge, then I do take it personally.

Ron: But if these three boys are innocent, would you want three families to lose their children too?
