One of the all time great films. Period. Funny, touching, idiosyncratic, and thrilling. A classic that never gets old.

A good action love story with a great ending.

A western that is more of an action buddy film - which is awesome. Love the friendship between Newman and Redford's characters.

Classic bad guys played by classy actors: Paul Newman and Robert Redford. If you haven't watched it yet then check this Western film out!

If you wanted to encapsulate the Western in three movies, those movies would be: "The Searchers" starring John Wayne, "For A Fistful of Dollars" starring Clint Eastwood, and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" Starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Anything else is just variations on a theme.

A classic.. love this genre and with two of the very best in Hollywood well it's a couple of hours well spent!

By far the top-grossing film of 1969, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID is a radical picture for several reasons: 1) in its championing of polyandry (Butch and Sundance, whether carnal or not is beside the point, amicably share the affections of schoolteacher Etta Place); 2) in its baleful depiction of big business (the Union Pacific boss E.H. Harriman sicks the machine-like death posse on Butch and Sundance, running them out of the country and off to Bolivia; and 3) the bad guys, the outlaws are the good guys, the hipsters. This was heady stuff back in 1969. This movie, along with EASY RIDER, had an enormous outsize influence on people as the 1960s came to end. Recently having read Weatherman Cathy Wilkerson's memoir FLYING CLOSE TO THE SUN, she remarks that her lover, Terry Robbins, one of those who died in the Greenwich townhouse explosion of March 1970, was deeply affected by the movie. A lot of people in the 1960s thought they were going to go out in a blaze of glory.

A splendid classic western based on the real life outlaws Butch and Sundance (with a good deal of Hollywood embellishment). The film is a buddy story, really, with the rapport between Paul Newman and Robert Redford being its bedrock. This is a terrific movie with lasting appeal.

True life figures of the West in a film that will make them legends for generations to come. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" matches Paul Newman and Robert Redford in their best film roles together. Director George Roy Hill takes us from their early exploits of robbing bank and trains to their final destination of Bolivia. It is a wild adventure all the way because Butch and Sundance are being trailed by lawmen all over the West for robbing one too many banks. It is one of films greatest friendships. Wait till you see the type of courage they had when the going got rough. It won 4 Oscars and deserved even more. Simply put, this is one of the best westerns ever filmed and I hope it will be added the National Film Registry for Preservation!
