Tells the unforgettable story of a family divided by faith. Sadiq and Sara, Somali immigrants raising a family in Norway, one day discover that their teenage daughters, Leila and Ayan, have vanished--and are en route to Syria to aid the Islamic State. Seierstad’s riveting account traces the sisters’ journey from secular, social democratic Norway to the front lines of the war in Syria, and follows Sadiq’s harrowing attempt to find them.

Strongly, strongly recommend this book, it should shock sane and thinking people into some type of sensible thought, much the same as young, educated women are shocked when I mention the estimated one-half million [or greater] female genital mutilation operations which have been performed in the United States of America!
If ever there was a book explaining the anti-assimilation of some people/groups [i.e., the amorality component], this is it! [Couldn't wait for the library to receive this, actually purchased this from the local book store, but of course, thanks to Jeff Bezos' Amazon, the resale value is around $1.00. I have long believed that NPR is as equally propagandistic as Fox, et cetera. Today there has been a misunderstanding, or clever ruse, confusing diversity with anti-assimilation. When those individuals and groups wish to foist their barbaric practices on the country they emigrate to, they should be banned and deported to their countries of origin. No sympathy for any of those types. Diversity is good and positive and required for progress - - but that IS NOT the same as anti-assimilation! Thought badly about everyone the family featured.]
