Highly recommend.
Learned about the beginnings of the Forest Service, Taft presidency, Teddy Roosevelt, Gifford Pinchot...and of course, The Fire. I was so drawn into the story about the honorable, low paid, ill liked (by those who wanted to Get Rich Quick off the land, which seemed like the vast majority of people in the area), that I had watery eyes and had to stop and try to google/read up on who survives, or not.
About 5 years ago, Hubby and I just happened to spend a day in Wallace, but I didn’t know anything about the fire. Now I want to go back and imagine the horror. Sheesh...that doesn’t sound like fun.

Mesmerizing listening, and a real insight into fiesty Teddy Roosevelt and the men and politics of his times. The birth of the US Forest Rangers, and the incredible, harrowing, almost incomprehensible forest fire that blackened Montana, Idaho, Washington, Alberta, and British Columbia in the summer of 1910.
