Read this aloud to my ten-year-old and we agreed that this is a winner! Relatable, courageous, and honest, protagonist Stanley Fortinbras is a kid with sensory processing disorder who struggles with upheavals at home and at school, and finds comfort in comics, both as a fan and as an aspiring comic artist. When Stan reluctantly decides to brave the crowds, people, and chaos of Trivia Quest, a sort of comic scavenger hunt, circumstances pair him with his new neighbor, a woke young homeschooler named Liberty, and off they go on a wild adventure! Full of characters that defy stereotypes and celebrate the underdog, this is one of our favorite reads of 2018.
