Colter played piano and sang in church before leaving Arizona to tour with rock-n-roll pioneer Duane Eddy, whom she married. Colter became a successful recording artist and songwriter; her marriage to Eddy ended, and in 1969 she married Waylon Jennings. In the 1970s they made their home in Nashville, and Jessi was at the center of it all. But as Jennings pursued his addictions and battled his demons, Colter returned to her faith and found in it a source of strength in turmoil. This is her unvarnished account of life, music, and love in the midst of heartache, and the faith that sustained her.

Learned a lot about the relationship between Colter and Waylon Jennings. Jessie is very grounded in her faith and that appeared to really help her through the rough patches in her marriage. I enjoyed reading about the couple's friendships with other singers/celebrities- especially Johnny Cash. Waylon and Johnny were roommates when they were younger, both got into drugs and alcohol during their careers and both went on to be sober late in life and continue their friendship.

This memoir is as beautiful as their music. What a classy lady she was - so comfortable in herself and in addition to the beautiful music she has shared she shares some beautiful memories. This is one of the best memoirs I have read.
