Dylan's a bluesman as much as a folkie.

seriously, yer putting Dylan in Blues? This guy who derived from Woody Guthrie? Next you'll be putting Hank Williams Sr. in Jazz. I was walking down Santa Monica pier around the time John Belushi OD at the Chateau Marmont, and I heard GROOM LEFT AT THE ALTAR played on the loudspeaker of a fishing supply shop, at the end of the pier. It was of course a sunny day, and I was at my wits end and I could not hear all the lyrics, but this live performance from the old rock venue on Market Street, a couple of years before, really went through to my soul, and when music succeeds in doing that, the inevitable result is it energizes you, it lifts you up. Re-hearing the track these days, I hear how Carlos Santana is trying to go off on an extended riff, but Zimmie steps right in front of that action and repeats lyrics he'd already mouthed, a minute before. He chose repetition over the local guitarist's improvisation. I wonder if he would have done that to Bloomfield or to Clapton. So, it doesn't sound that good these days. I still rate it above at least 90% of Dylan's stuff.
