I checked this movie out because I'm interested in dementia and memory. It was slow, but I liked it. The plot involves AI surrogates to augment beautiful memories of a woman who is forgetting, but also help suppress painful ones. This is not an action film, it's a thinking film and the idea that our memories live on in those who remain was well played. There is some pain, but the surrogates attempt to help those who are suffering. I'm not a John Hamm fan, and his performance is wooden, but it's supposed to be - overall, I enjoyed it. Recommend for anyone who is investigating dementia.

When a bad movie happens to a good cast

I found this movie incredibly sad from beginning to end, but I'm still glad I watched it. It's obviously not for everyone, but I didn't mind the slow pace and liked the concept, the acting, and the cinematography.

Didn't care for this movie. It's about a hologram of a man, dead years ago and the woman he was married to. Very boring, to us at least. We turned it off.

Very thin plot, almost entirely dialogue -- a strung-together collection of anecdotes and reminiscences. Characters die in sequence and get replaced by holographic simulations. The story, such as it is, unfolds through conversation with the following character(s). Unfortunately, the unfolding back-story is dull and uninteresting. May have been a mildly-interesting stage-play, but on film is simply boring.

Didn't like the movie. A boring and strange concept. Just weird.

*** An interesting concept that we may have to deal with in the very near future. A movie that moves slowly and not easy for some to watch. BUT, one that may be like a crystal ball for our near futures.

This dramatic mystery film is about a woman named Marjorie who is now eighty six years old, and living out her final days alongside the electronic rendition of her late husband. She gets to recount her life with him as well as her life apart from him, as she learns to cope with his death as well as her own that soon follows. The movie has an amazing cast starring Jon Hamm and Geena Davis, who have excellent chemistry with one another. This movie has many science-fiction moments, but at its core it’s a romantic drama that will woo you and leave you wanting more. I would rate this film 4/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

A very unusual film technique about people telling stories about their life. It makes the film very slow moving, and overlapping realities. Not everyone's cup of tea, but an interesting experiment in film making.

A sci fi twist on how people could in the near future come to terms with losing loved ones and the perceptions they have about those now gone.
