Good movie about the battle of Stalingrad, and specifically about the struggles of Vassili and his fellow soldiers. Brutal and bloody fighting depicted, one sex scene about halfway through for those concerned. There were definite uses of dramatic license for the sake of the story, but still a good movie overall.

Not only did Jude Law deliver once again, Ed Harris at one of his finest. It is amazing how many times Ed gets a supporting role the borders on being the main one. Script shows yet another story about the USSR/Germany confrontation not widely known otherwise.

This movie was interesting, informative, and worse seeing!! I recommend this movie for all to see. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.

Good show. Lots of action and shows how brutal and critical the battle for Leningrad was for both the Russians and the Germans.

True story? True story as told by the Soviet Union- self-serving masters of propaganda. This movie is typical Hollywood tripe- the Soviet guy is so heroic and good and the German so cold and bad, etc. etc. If they'd simply made it an adversarial 'duel', without the editorialization, or even simply stuck to how tough it was for the Soviet defenders of Stalingrad, it might have been a good film, but sadly they did the typical Hollywood thing and ruined what might have otherwise been a good movie. Into the bin with this one...
