"I thrust my hand toward the sky as my voice begs the Elemental inside me to waken and rise. But it's no use. The curse I've spent my entire life abhorring--the thing I trained so hard to control--no longer exists." Nym has saved Faelen only to discover that Draewulf stole everything she valued. Now he's destroyed her Elemental storm-summoning ability as well. When Nym sneaks off with a host of delegates to Bron, Lord Myles offers her the chance for a new kind of power and the whispered hope that it may do more than simply defeat the monster she loathes. But the secrets the Bron people have kept concealed, along with the horrors Draewulf has developed, may require more than simply harnessing a darker ability. They may require who she is. Set against the stark metallic backdrop of the Bron kingdom, Nym is faced with the chance to change the future. Or was that Draewulf's plan for her all along?"--

I have a lot of conflicting feelings about this book and this series in general. The description for this series sounded so good, but it didn't live up to what I had been expecting. I somewhat enjoyed the first book but so much of what happened frustrated me. I decided to continue with the series because I am still interested to know how things will turn out, but I am not intrigued. I really don't like the main character Nym and I don't like her relationship with Eogan. I don't know whether to say that I like this book or not. I am undecided

…well.
Quick question:
HOW WILL I EVER WAIT OUT THE NEXT 9 MONTHS UNTIL SIREN’S SONG!?!?
GUYS. THIS SERIES.
THIS SERIES IS LIFE.
I swear, this book TOTALLY topped the previous one. I love this series with all my heart, and although Mary Weber has successfully earned my anger for how she treats her characters (and bruises my heart in the process), she has also earned my eternal respect and admiration as an author.
Dang, she's good.
The plotline in Siren's Fury picks up right where Storm Siren ended in a cliffhanger, and from then on, the main character and readers are immediately hurled into fast-paced, suspense-filled circumstances that test the characters’ mindsets and change them completely. And not always for the betterment of themselves or others.
Nymia continues to show incredible growth, and my love for her character expands more and more as I read. The thickness of her emotional psyche is mind-blowing. The way she falls, drags herself up again, and pushes against the world is admirable, if at times her decisions are less then wise. However, I rarely ever am against her. I understand why she makes less then smart or unorthodox decisions and don’t fault her for them because she’s such a varied mix of strong and broken and gentle and furious that you can’t really contain her in a box. I am really looking forward to the climax in Siren’s Song, where I hope we’ll see her final surmount as she answers the most important questions about herself right now:
Who is Nymia? Is she her powers, or are her powers a part of her?
The whole Eogan thing really took me for a spin. I swear, I was really surprised with where Weber took it, and I DID end up falling for her tricks. However, I was extremely happy when that plotline was “resolved” (heh heh, it’s in quotes cause we’re only in the 2nd book, peeps. Nothing’s resolved yet. *maniacal laughter*)
The supporting cast really got a chance to flesh out in this book, particularly Myles and Rasha. Sorry, guys. I hate Myles cause he’s a complete pig, but I also DON’T hate him. I can’t hate him fully. Not yet. He hasn’t passed the breaking point for me yet. Oh, and Rasha has really proven her worth. I felt she was rather pointless in Storm Siren cause she didn’t get much time onscreen (or, onPAGE *ba-dum-tss*), but now I think she’s got a decent character life ahead of her. So, yeah, I hope we get to delve more into Cashlin in book 3.
Well, guys, I am loving the guts outta this series, and I am clamoring for more. Especially since the ending completely dropped my jaw. So look out for book 3, Siren’s Song!

...who we are is not our abilities. Not really. It's more who we are in spite of them. Like Kel said, "Maybe it's more the choice in how we use them. Not everything that seems weaker is."

Love.
Maybe that is the true power.
But could it be powerful enough to change an entire world?
