Front Page (1931) is an important Pre-Code film (Pre-Code time frame was 1931-1934) in which the producers were able to more freely critique the governmental and journalistic corruption and sexual hypocrisy of the time. You may find that the prostitute and the alleged insane killer were the only ethically moral characters in the film. The film contains a few jokes that would be prohibited from 1935 until the 1960’s as being offensive because of sexual innuendo. This new Criterion version (sold in a two-set package with the remake "His Girl Friday") contains an excellent extensive supplement showing how the film was completely restored after finding three different versions (two international distributions versions including one where one character gives the finger to another character) and finding both an audio track on the film and also separate audio discs for theaters that could only project sound in that crude method). Note that the actors in the library listing are for the film "His Girl Friday." The library incorrectly lists this as an adaption of the Lewis Milestone film "His Girl Friday" when in actuality "His Girl Friday" is the Howard Hawks adaptation of "The Front Page."
