Fun and hilarious! I think they did a perfect job between making quite a new story and paying homage to the original. Also, I just love Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Jokes are nonstop: dialogue joke, expressions, slapstick, all kinds! Effects are pretty. Music is upbeat while still reminiscent of the original. And those creepy parade balloons were inspired by actual historic parade balloons.
This was my second time watching (first was in the theater) and it was still super entertaining. I caught a few jokes I missed the first time :)

We live in a time of political correctness and nostalgia tripping. So this was the perfect movie for millennials and snowflakes. Which is exactly why it was such a terrible movie. There is absolutely no originality to it. You can't judge this movie on it's own merits because there aren't any. They just recycle the ghosts and the story material/plot from the past movies. The villain was lame. Not even Melissa McCarthy could save this movie.

One of the worst movies of the year. The storyline is similar to the original but stops there. They bring in the old cast in odd places. There's a point three-quarters of the way through the film where Chris Hemsworth (the sexy moronic secretary) is leading a flash mob where we just looked at each other and said, wth? I was offered a free digital copy of this film and I turned it down. That's how bad it was.

Kate McKinnon is transcendent & genius! This is among the best remakes ever made of a classic movie. Savor visual magic similar to the movie in the children's picture book,
"As the City Sleeps" by Stephen Johnson.

In this 2016 film by Paul Feig, a new group of paranormal investigators answers the call to take down a supernatural threat that could destroy the entire city. This new version of Ghostbusters succeeds because it has genuinely scary moments (I think I jumped out of my chair three times), outlandish comedy, plenty of heart, and pays homage to the source material while still placing its own unique stamp on the universe. Don't listen to the critics on this one and instead see the film to judge its merit for yourself. My one criticism is that given the talent involved, I wish that all of the jokes would have landed better (I'm looking at you Melissa McCarthy). Kate McKinnon steals the spotlight as the zany Holtzmann and will have you wanting to grab a tube of Pringles, strap on your oldest pair of overalls, and dance to DeBarge.

I am a huge fan of the original, so I went into this with some skepticism. If you judge it based on its own merits (and not against the original), I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
