Liked the film as much as the book but imagine that the story was not easy to follow in this fairly complicated crime drama. Helped to have read the book with the main quartet of characters: an iron worker who tried his hands to run tug boats on the mighty Mississippi hauling coal and crushed rocks, a cold Canadian mob hit man with half Indian blood, a smart real estate agent MILF who no one took seriously, and one young impulsive killer with his older "comfort woman". And as suggested in my book comment, the personality analysis on hand writing was left out and kept the smothering mom and the LEOs in the "Witness Security Program.” Last, the ending was somewhat different but both highly acceptable.

an ok thriller.
Joseph Gordon Levitt's character will grate on the nerves quickly.

Mickey was one of my favorite actors in Body Heat, Barfly, and Angel Heart. Then he disappeared and went into boxing where he was battered and came back much paunchier and old in the great film, the Wrestler, seemingly playing himself as the two-bit wrestler (although he got battered as a boxer in real life).

He is the real star of this movie - its one of those not too serious movies from the writings of Elmore Leonard. He could be back. He saves this movie from being nothing much. Joseph Gordon-Levitt really expands his body of work with this one.

Killshot is a standard thriller. It's far from being a masterpiece, but it's not an utter travesty. Rourke and Lane give solid performances, but Gordon-Levitt becomes extremely annoying at an alarming rate. I'm sure the director's intent is for his character to aggravate the audience to no extent, but damn... The plot doesn't explore uncharted territory, but it isn't completely trite either. It's not a movie I'll recommend, and I won't steer potential viewers away from it.

Good – Killshot (2008) 95 min. The film has been cursed with numerous re-shoots and casting changes. Despite the production urban legends, the film remains entertaining with likeable characters including Diane Lane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mickey Rourke, and Thomas Jane. The story revolves around two baddies, Rourke and Gordon-Levitt chasing down Lane and Thomas Jane, who have been placed in the Federal Witness Protection program.

Believe that the movie used very similar if not exact quotes as in Elmore's book:
