Known as "Black dog syndrome" in animal shelters and rescues, it refers to the unfortunate phenomenon that black dogs are frequently the last dogs to be adopted and the first to be euthanized in rescue shelters. When photographer Fred Levy heard about this problem, he decided to turn his camera lens to black dogs, showing the world just how beautiful they truly are. Calling his photo series the Black Dogs Project, the incredible photographs have been shared across the globe.

A very photography book with a nice story on each dog. Some of the stories will tug at your heart.

The author/photographer is a local Massachusetts man for those who like local interest.
