Suspend any concept of rational thought or even basic intelligence. Daphne Du Maurier is spinning in her far away, honourable British grave. Most unfortunately, she inspired a plethora of "Rebecca" clones, of which this is a weak, embarrassing and painful example. Totally without logic or any redeeming features. The heroine's thoughts and actions are totally inexplicable, unless, of course, she is a brainless bimbo. Spindler is another American hack who has inexplicably stumbled onto literary success, for which we should all be deeply ashamed.
