As a documentary I thought it was a little light on the history. The highlights that were showcased were gruesome and gritty but that only lent to what the men went through when investigating a crime. I would have liked to seen more in depth - training, working with other agencies, current recruitment with interviews of current officers. But then it would have been 2 discs that gave more insight.

At times rather gruesome, this is a fascinating look at how police work (e.g. forensics) has developed over the past 200 years.

This is a 2013 documentary produced for PBS (Public Broadcasting Service).
The crime historians retrace the steps of Scotland Yard's earliest detectives and enter a grisly world of treachery, violence, and murders that include the "Jack the Ripper" case.
The detective inspector also reveals the biggest jewelry heist in history.
It is an amazing, breath-taking and quite entertaining documentary.

PBS gives us yet another exceptional documentary, but that's to be expected from the broadcaster, which has such a great track record in doing so. This examines the history and current status of the police in London. The only complaint is that it could easily have been much longer.

PBS has done it again very well done documentary series. This movie was interesting, informative, and worse seeing!! I recommend this movie for all to see. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.

Fascinating history of Scotland Yard. I would have liked this program could have been two hours instead of one! Highly recommended.
