We got to see Leon in concert and it was great! the cd felt like a dance at a hall filled with excied people. He has a beautiful soulful voice AND our kids like it too so that's an added bonus!
This album makes me want to put on a vintage dress and go dancing. Not clubbing - proper dancing.
If you love soul music of the 50s and 60s, you should definitely try this amazing album. Bridges' voice is wonderful, and the tracks are reminiscent of singers like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. It's perfect listening for a chilly fall day when you're curled up with some cocoa.
What Edward said. No really! I happened upon Leon Bridges while watching Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats on Austin City Limits. Really enjoyable, soulful, toe-tapping music.
A soulful album that is reminiscent of classic R&B/Blues. The part that amazes me is how Leon Bridges can make such an obvious nod to older music but sound so incredibly fresh. Highly recommended.
Is this guy the new Sam Cooke? he certainly has the style and voice down pat. This is a pretty good release, his song Smooth sailin' got a fair bit of airplay, and rightly so,the best track on the album, which only runs around 35" but its mostly good.Looking forward to see what he does next, and which direction he goes.
If you are looking for some great soul music look no further than Leon Bridges. A wonderful album.
Fantastic, soulful sounds. Finally an album that isn't all about how nasty & subversive it can be. The concepts on the album are simple; having a crush, family, and salvation in the Lord. This is an album anyone can listen to and find something to like. 'River' is without a doubt the most creative & moving song on here. I hope he continues to produce work like this one.
Great smooth, old-school sounding soul. Fantastic voice!
I LOVE this album. It's just perfect! Every song is great; the style is what music should be; Leon's voice is awesome. I especially love the songs "River" and "Smooth Sailin", but they are all fantastic!
