The book suffers from a lack of maps. The lengthy chapter "World War II in Norway" ought to be expanded into a book.

I have no Norwegian connection so I just skimmed the book. It was interesting: 2/3 of population lost in Black Plague, after Ireland most immigrants to US(40% of population), really only a modern nation in 1905, before a colony of Denmark or Sweden.

a good read, comprehensive history. I would have liked it if the author expanded on contemporary history more, but even so rate this a excellent book.
