Great detailed accounts of everyday sailing life including, "the press", navigation using chronometer, preparing ship for hurricane, etc. The attempt to use the language of that period is hit or miss, but does add credibility. Kydd is a common sailor, not upper class (or Captain) like so many other books in this genre so that is refreshing!
