An interesting start to a new series and a rather mixed bag.
Kick Lannigan is one angry, damaged, hurt and slightly unbalanced personality. Her love of weapons makes her appear very violent. Her anger makes her very slow on the uptake throughout this book. Her lack of understanding (due to anger issues & not taking in the facts) cause a lot of trouble and danger for herself and those around her.
This book is uneven in its execution but it has it's moments. There's a lot of background to Kit's situation and Chelsea Cain spends a lot of time setting up the personality situations. Therefore, it could be that this book would be a bit uneven due to it being mostly a set-up for the books to follow.
I will be reading the second in this series when it comes out. There's enough of a mystery left in the last pages to keep me coming back. With all the set-up complete, the second book should be more riveting.
A decent but slow start to a new series.
