Eddie Cantrell is married to the king of Denmark's daughter and is sent by Admiral Simpson to the Carribbean to secure access to the most valuable commodity on that continent--the oil which the up-time machines and industry need. Great book on adventure, economics, & strategic deception.
Slight oops on the cover. Steam ship should be more displaced & less stick out from the cannons, the supplies & the people it carried.

More in the 'Ring of Fire' series....and this was one of the better of the later efforts.
The naval battle scenes were reminiscent of Horatio Hornblower.
Flint gets in his point about slavery in a very practical way.
I enjoyed it!
