I enjoy all of the Anna Pigeon books. Best if read in order. Characters come and go.

After reading about 1/3 of this book I didn't care if any of them made it out of the woods.

Author spends too much time on the emotional aspect of the hostage character that is disabled with a broken back. Enough, get on with the story. I lost interest about an hour into the reading as the author was too hung up on describing the handicap. Enough, we get it! Sorry, first book I've read by Anna Pigeon and this will be my last.

Was very disappointed--I have enjoyed all of Barr's previous books but this one was so wordy I couldn't enjoy readying - needed a dictionary!!

This is different from the other books in the Anna Pigeon series in that the focus is not so much on the park/natural environment but is more on the way the characters interact with and in the natural environment, with four bad guys doing their worst to the five women. What I especially liked was the reason for the trip the five women were making -- to test some equipment designed by one of the women -- equipment that could make it possible for people with disabilities (such as being paraplegic) to go canoeing, hiking, adventuring in the great outdoors. I was totally engrossed and finished the book in two sittings.

Destroyer Angel is one of Nevada Barr's best reads; perhaps her best.. It was almost impossible to put down. Five stars!

I don't read "women in peril" novels. There's enough of that in real life. Anna Pigeon needs to get back to being a ranger.

I have loved the Anna Pigeon series, but didn't care for this one. It's more of a suspense/thriller than a mystery, and didn't have the sense of place that the others have had.

I am a long time fan of the Anna Pigeon series. I love the real humanity and true-to-life strength of Anna Pigeon. I love that her main focus is on her work and that the author doesn't sacrifice the fullness of Anna to the martyrdom of Romantic Love. I love Nevada Barr's full realization of other characters who surround Anna Pigeon, her insights into women and male behavior vis a vis women who are more than paper cuttr "virgins and whores." Brava Nevada Barr. Thank you for Anna Pigeon and, much more please.
