Like Grave of the Fireflies you follow 2 siblings who must survive together. Thats where similarities end as this children get help from a single mother along the way. Once you reach the end of this series and you will want to watch it all, you will cry and rethink many things in your life.

Tokyo magnitude 8.0 is not anything like your by the numbers Hollywood disaster movie. While the dub is weak at times it is series that pulls no punches when dealing with the horror of such an earthquake. I will not say much more other than that it is a surprisingly powerful piece of animation. Weither it's do to the fact that we know such a thing can happenn to Toyko or some other deeper thing that I can not yet understand, I can not say.
