Lead guitarist of the Dark Troubadours, Dayan was renowned for his mesmerizing performances. His melodies stilled crowds, beckoned, seduced. And always, he called to her to complete him. Corinne Wentworth stood at the vortex of a gathering storm. Pursued by the fanatics who'd murdered her husband, she was risking her life by keeping more than one secret.

This book is one of my favorite Christine Feehan Dark series books. I loved the heroine. She was sweet, gentle, fragile, but still had a kind of strength. Dayan was a different kind of Carpathian hero, and I quite frankly found him more interesting than the rest of the Carpathian heroes. He was more of a beta hero in a series full of alphas (and near alpholes). His approach to wooing Corrinne was sweeter, and far more emotionally satisfying than many of Christine Feehan's other books.

What keeps this book from getting a full five stars, though, was one of the secondary characters. Corrinne's sister-in-law was one of the worst written characters I have ever seen. What she did, what people said about her, and how she was described did not match. She very nearly got people killed, merely because she flat-out refused to believe in the danger. The other characters said it was because "she was too good for this world" (gag me with a spoon) when really, it's because the character is completely deluded and needs some serious psychiatric help.

While I love this book otherwise, this book was the beginning of the end for me as far as Christine Feehan was concerned. This secondary character was a sign of bad writing to come.

I found Dark Melody a little painful to read even though I enjoyed the romance between Dayan and Corinne. After all, poor Corinne barely had a chance...1st, a terminal heart condition; 2nd, her husband had been murdered; 3rd, she needed to have her baby...without harming her heart, further...and recover so Dayan can make her Carpathian...more trauma to her heart and body. Please ignore my Jan 30, 2016 comment. I...thought...I had added it...only...to Dark Magic, and I don't know how to remove it from my comment on Dark Melody.

Loved this story. That was too close for comfort with the little baby and Corrine's bad heart.

I found this book to be one of the best of the series. It brought in the sensitivity and love of the entire family and yet still lets the predator side combine, It was nice to meet so much of the carpathian family circle in the same book... A keeper

Good book. It was nice to see into the lives of some of the other trabadors.

Not as good as some of her other books. It was really promising, really romantic, I loved the "eyes meeting across a crowded room" thing that she had in the first few chapters. But once the characters left the bar all the tension seemed to leave the book. Everything became about the baby the female character was carrying, her heart condition that made continuing to carry the baby so dangerous, and the best way to save both her and the baby. Then at the very end, after the baby was born, the tension from the beginning returned, but still, only in a smaller way.
